The Quiet Outflows

Find recurring charges you no longer notice.

About 16 minutes

Learn

Subscriptions, memberships, app fees and auto-renewals are designed to be invisible. Invisibility is their business model.

The problem is not that they are expensive individually — it is that they were approved once and never reviewed.

A yearly review of recurring charges is one of the highest-return hours in personal finance.

Do

List every recurring charge you can find and cancel or keep each one deliberately.

Reflect

How many recurring charges had you genuinely forgotten about?

Day 13

Spending Triggers

Notice the conditions that produce unplanned spending.

Learn

Spending is rarely random. It clusters around tiredness, stress, celebration, boredom, social pressure and convenience.

Identifying a trigger is more effective than resolving to try harder, because it lets you change the situation rather than fight the impulse.

This is observation, not self-criticism. Everyone has triggers, including people who are excellent with money.

Do

Name your top two spending triggers and one small change that reduces exposure to each.

Reflect

When did you last spend money for a reason that had nothing to do with the item?

Day 14

Your Spending Reality

Close the week with an accurate picture of your outflows.

Learn

You now know what arrives, what leaves, and in what proportion. That combination is what most people never assemble.

Visibility alone changes behaviour for a while. Systems change it for good — that is Week 3.

Before moving on, confirm your numbers still feel true. Later weeks build directly on them.

Do

Review your Week 2 numbers and correct anything that now looks wrong.
