LEARN
01 — Financial Education
by Pathways to Riches
Part of the pathway
A focused course from the LEARN stage that removes the mystery from credit. Six lessons cover what credit is, how scores are built, how to read your own report, and how to use credit deliberately — without jargon, fear, or salesmanship.
Curriculum
Credit is simply a record of trust: lenders reporting how you have handled borrowed money over time. This lesson separates the mechanics from the mythology — credit is neither good nor bad in itself, and understanding that distinction changes how you use it.
Credit scores feel mysterious because the formula is proprietary — but the ingredients are public and surprisingly few. We walk through the major factors: payment history, amounts owed, length of history, new credit, and mix — and what each one actually measures.
Your credit report is the raw record behind the score, and you are entitled to see it. This lesson shows you how to read one line by line, what to look for, and how errors — which are more common than most people expect — are formally disputed and corrected.
